ENE 04 Zero and Low Carbon Design

What is it?

The main goal is to reduce atmospheric pollution and carbon emissions by the encouragement and utilization of local energy from renewable sources to supply a significant proportion of a building energy needs. This issue is split into three parts:

  • Passive Design Analysis,
  • Free cooling,
  • Low and zero carbon feasibility study.

What is it for?

Reduce the building energy consumption and associated carbon emissions and minimise reliance on active building services systems.

Requirements

Three credits can be achieved for this issue; it depends directly on which of the three mentioned assessment criteria is presented and solved. The feasibility study has to be carried out by an energy specialist to establish the most appropriate local, low or zero carbon energy source for the building development.
